Why This Statue?

This Vajrasattva makes an immediate and unforgettable impression. The acrylic hand-painted pure white body — the traditional colour of Vajrasattva's inherent purity — glows with quiet radiance against richly painted crimson robes and gold-plated ornaments, crown, and throne scrollwork. The bold contrast of pristine white, deep red, and gleaming gold creates a devotional palette of extraordinary beauty and sacred intensity. Cast using the ancient lost wax method at 35 cm tall and 4.28 kg, every carved detail from the elaborate crown to the lotus throne petals is executed with master-level sculptural precision.

Who Is Vajrasattva?

Vajrasattva, (Tibetan: Dorje Sempa), "the Being of Indestructible Mind" — is the supreme purification deity of Vajrayana Buddhism, embodying the absolute, unstainable purity of enlightened mind. Revered across Tibetan and Newar Buddhist traditions, he is the principal deity invoked in the ngöndro foundational practices to dissolve negative karma, broken vows, and spiritual obscurations. His hundred-syllable mantra is considered the most powerful purification practice in all of Buddhism, transforming even the heaviest accumulated karma when recited with genuine devotion and remorse.

Key Features: Posture, Eyes, and Hands

Vajrasattva sits in padmasana — the immovable full lotus posture — projecting absolute, sovereign stillness. His acrylic hand-painted eyes are gently downcast with serene, all-encompassing compassion — the gaze of a being who perceives every karmic stain with perfect clarity and responds with nothing but boundless willingness to purify. His right hand holds the golden vajra pressed firmly at his heart, representing the indestructible essence of the awakened mind that no karma can permanently obscure. His left hand rests gracefully on his knee cradling the ghanta bell — the two implements together embodying the inseparable union of compassionate wisdom and skillful method, the complete heart of Vajrayana realisation.

Sacred Symbolism and Meaning

Vajrasattva's brilliant white form proclaims the most liberating teaching in all of Vajrayana: the nature of mind is fundamentally, irreversibly pure. No karma — however heavy — can permanently stain what is primordially spotless. The vajra at his heart represents bodhicitta — the indestructible awakening mind — while the ghanta bell declares the ever-present sound of śūnyatā, emptiness that liberates all phenomena from fixity. His gold-plated crown reflects the five Buddha wisdoms radiating without interruption in all directions across all realms.

Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom

The Vajrasattva Tantra declares: "Even the heaviest karma accumulated across countless lifetimes dissolves completely in Vajrasattva's compassionate presence." The Guhyasamāja Tantra describes him as the sovereign of all one hundred Buddha families — the primordial ground of purification from which every tantric path ultimately springs and to which every sincere practitioner returns.

Sacred Mantra

Short form: Om vajrasattva hum”

"Salutations to the indestructible being — may all impurities of body, speech, and mind be completely purified and dissolved into the boundless expanse of primordial, unstainable awareness."
