Who Is Chengresi? 

Chengresi, Avalokiteśvara in Sanskrit, is the Bodhisattva of infinite compassion and the most universally beloved deity in all of Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. The Kāraṇḍavyūha Sūtra proclaims: "From the pores of Avalokiteśvara's body entire Buddha fields arise — beings who merely hear his name are freed from rebirth in lower realms."
