Why This Statue?
This Dzambhala shrine statue is unlike anything in ordinary sacred art markets. Weighing over 24 lbs and standing nearly 17 inches tall, it arrives as a complete devotional universe — Dzambhala seated within a fully carved arched torana, flanked by ornate pillars, guardian lions, a Garuda crown, and scrolling foliate borders. The antique copper finish gives it an aged, museum-worthy patina that commands immediate reverence. Every detail, from the lotus base to the canopy's fierce protectors, was hand-carved using the ancient lost wax method. This is sacred architecture and sculpture united in one extraordinary piece.
Who Is Dzambhala?
Dzambhala is the Buddhist deity of wealth and prosperity, known in Sanskrit as Kuber. He is an emanation of Avalokiteśvara, the Bodhisattva of compassion, manifesting abundance as an expression of boundless generosity rather than mere material gain. Revered across Tibetan, Newar, and Vajrayana traditions, Dzambhala bestows both spiritual and worldly richness upon sincere practitioners.
Key Features: Eyes, Hands, and Body Posture
The wide, commanding eyes gaze outward with sovereign authority and compassionate vigilance. The left hand holds a mongoose (nehulay), which spits jewels — the iconic symbol of inexhaustible generosity. The right hand cradles a wish-fulfilling jewel (chintamani). He sits in Maharajalila — the royal ease posture — with one leg pendant, exuding the relaxed confidence of a deity at home in abundance. The elaborate crown, jeweled necklaces, and layered robes speak to his royal, celestial nature.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
The torana arch frames Dzambhala as a living shrine — the Garuda above wards off negativity, while the guardian lions below protect sacred space. The jewel-spitting mongoose destroys the poison of miserliness. The lotus base affirms that true abundance arises from purity of intention. Together, every carved element channels the teaching that generosity is the root of all prosperity.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
The Dzambhala Tantra teaches: "Dānaṃ sarva sukhasya mūlam" — "Generosity is the root of all happiness." This statue embodies that truth in copper and craftsmanship. The Newar artisans of Patan, Nepal — guardians of a living 1,500-year sculptural tradition — infuse each lost wax casting with sacred intention, ensuring the deity's blessings are literally built into the form.
Sacred Mantra
“Om Dzambhala Dzalendraye Svaha”
"Om, Dzambhala, Lord Of Wealth And Splendor, Svaha."
Chanting this mantra before the statue activates Dzambhala's blessings, dissolves obstacles to abundance, and aligns the practitioner with the energy of generous, flowing, limitless prosperity in all dimensions of life.
