Who Is Amitayus?
Amitayus, known in Tibetan as Tsepame, is the Buddha of Infinite Life — a celestial bodhisattva revered across Tibetan and Mahayana Buddhist traditions for bestowing longevity, merit, and liberation from untimely death.

The statue's hand-painted eyes carry a meditative stillness, gazing inward with serene compassion. The hands rest in Dhyana Mudra — the meditation gesture — cradling an amrita vase containing the nectar of immortality. Seated in padmasana (full lotus posture) upon a double-lotus throne, the figure radiates perfect meditative equipoise, symbolizing unshakeable inner peace.

In the Aparimitāyurjñāna Sūtra, it is written: "Whoever beholds or venerates Amitayus shall be freed from the fear of death." His essence echoes the Sanskrit principle of Amṛta — immortal nectar — the eternal source beyond birth and cessation.
