Why This Statue?

This Simhanada Manjushri is simply unlike anything else. The copper body is lavished in genuine 24K gold gilding — a continuous, mirror-bright luminosity across both the deity and his magnificent lion mount. The green acrylic-painted lion with gold-plated mane and open mouth is rendered with exceptional sculptural drama and vitality. Turquoise, red coral, and ruby gemstones jewel the crown and ornaments with vivid, jewel-toned brilliance. Gold and acrylic hand-painted facial features deliver serene, alert compassion of remarkable lifelike quality. At 30.5 cm and 5.16 kg, this is a genuinely weighty, visually commanding altar centerpiece.

Who Is Simhanada Manjushri?

Simhanada Manjushri, (Tibetan: Jampal Sengge'i Dra), "the Lion's Roar of Gentle Glory" — is a rare and powerful form of Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of supreme wisdom, depicted riding a roaring lion. The lion mount represents the fearless, unstoppable proclamation of prajñā — liberating wisdom — whose roar silences all conceptual confusion and cuts through the deepest spiritual darkness. This form is particularly associated with the swift removal of obstacles to learning, understanding, and enlightened realisation.

Key Features: Posture, Eyes, and Hands

Simhanada Manjushri sits in rājalīlāsana — the posture of royal ease — upon his magnificent lion, projecting the relaxed authority of a being whose wisdom is completely beyond challenge or doubt. His gold and acrylic hand-painted eyes are serenely alert, carrying the penetrating quality of awareness that sees directly through surface appearances into the luminous nature of reality. His right hand raises the Prajñā khadga — the flaming sword of wisdom — high above his head, poised to sever every root of ignorance in one decisive, compassionate stroke. His left hand holds the Prajñāpāramitā scripture atop a blooming lotus, representing transcendent wisdom in its most direct and transmissible form. His noble bearing upon the lion reflects wisdom as active, dynamic sovereignty rather than passive scholarly knowledge.

Sacred Symbolism and Meaning

The lion mount is Simhanada Manjushri's defining iconographic feature — the siṃhanāda, the "lion's roar," is an ancient metaphor in Buddhist teaching for the fearless proclamation of Dharma that causes all false views to tremble and dissolve. Just as a lion's roar scatters all lesser creatures, the roar of prajñā scatters every form of ignorance, conceptual fixation, and spiritual obstacle without exception. The ruby, turquoise, and coral gemstones adorning this statue reflect the three qualities of enlightened mind — clarity, healing, and compassionate vitality — united in one sovereign, luminous form.

Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom

The Mañjuśrī-nāma-saṃgīti proclaims: "His wisdom roars like a lion, scattering the darkness of ignorance across all realms simultaneously without effort." The Vimalakirti Sūtra portrays Manjushri as the embodiment of wisdom so profound that even silence in his presence transmits direct realisation to those ready to receive it.

Sacred Mantra

“Om A Ra Pa Ca Na Dhih”

"Salutations to Manjushri — may the wisdom that perceives the true nature of all phenomena be fully awakened within my mind, cutting through all ignorance and confusion completely."
