Why This Statue?
This White Tara captivates through the seamless warmth of its 24K gold gilding — a continuous golden radiance that perfectly mirrors her pure, all-pervading compassionate light. The delicate teal-painted hair, precisely painted facial features, and intricately detailed silver-accented robes and lotus throne reveal extraordinary craftsmanship refinement. Who Is White Tara?
White Tara — Sita Tara in Sanskrit — is the Bodhisattva of longevity, healing, and compassionate serenity. Among the twenty-one Taras, she is uniquely distinguished by her seven eyes — on her face, palms, and feet — symbolizing her omniscient watchfulness over all beings across every realm of existence, seeing and responding to every form of suffering without exception.
Key Features: Eyes, Hands, and Sacred Posture
White Tara's three facial eyes — the third eye at her brow — radiate all-seeing compassionate awareness, missing nothing and judging no one. Her right hand extends gracefully in varada mudra — the supreme wish-granting gesture — while her left holds the stem of a triple lotus, symbolizing the three times: past, present, and future. Seated in padmasana upon an ornate lotus throne, her upright, adorned golden form radiates perfect stillness, infinite openness, and motherly protective grace toward all who behold her.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
White Tara's luminous golden-white form represents the purity of enlightened compassion untouched by any defilement. Her seven eyes ensure no being's suffering goes unseen or unaddressed. The triple lotus she holds embodies the promise of liberation across all three times. The silver-detailed robes and lotus petals of the throne evoke moonlit purity — the cooling, healing light that soothes every fever of body, mind, and spirit.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
The Tara Tantra teaches: "White Tara, whose body is the color of autumn moonlight, bestows long life upon all who take refuge in her." Her compassion is not passive — it is the most active force in the universe, ceaselessly reaching across all realms to grant healing, longevity, and liberation to every being without discrimination.
Sacred Mantra
“Om Tare Tuttare Ture Mama Ayur Punye Jnana Pustim Kuru Svaha”
Meaning: "Om, O Tara, swift liberator — increase my lifespan, merit, and wisdom, Svaha (so be it, may all blessings be firmly established)."
