Why this Statue?
This masterpiece represents centuries of Nepalese craftsmanship, where skilled artisans channel devotional energy into every detail, creating a sacred vessel for tantric meditation and spiritual transformation.
Who is Hevajra?
Hevajra (Tibetan: Kye Dorje), meaning "Secret Union," is one of Vajrayana Buddhism's most important tantric deities. Known as the "King of Tantras," he belongs to the supreme Anuttara Yoga Tantra class and serves as the central deity of the Sakya school's Lamdre teachings. This powerful meditational deity represents the transformation of ordinary consciousness into enlightened awareness through advanced tantric practice.
Divine Features and Sacred Posture
This magnificent statue captures Hevajra's iconic dancing pose in eternal cosmic transformation. His sixteen arms stretch gracefully outward in perfect symmetry, each hand grasping ritual implements symbolizing spiritual realization. The deity's penetrating eyes blaze with divine wisdom, cutting through illusion's veils. His dynamic stance—one leg raised in dance—embodies consciousness transcending dualistic thinking. Adorned with an ornate crown and jewelry reflecting his supreme tantric nature, Hevajra embraces his beloved consort Nairatmya. She represents pure wisdom (prajna), her serene expression contrasting with his wrathful countenance. Together, they embody the sacred yab-yum union, where masculine compassion merges inseparably with feminine wisdom.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
Every element carries profound meaning. Hevajra's typical blue-black skin represents the dharmakaya, the ultimate reality beyond concepts. His dancing posture symbolizes enlightened wisdom's joyous play, while multiple arms demonstrate simultaneous compassionate activities for all beings. The surrounding flame aureole represents wisdom-fire consuming ignorance. His consort Nairatmya, meaning "selflessness," embodies the realization of emptiness. Their intimate embrace illustrates that enlightenment cannot exist without the perfect union of method and wisdom.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
The Hevajra Tantra declares: "Sarva-buddha-maya-kayena"—"with the body that is the illusion of all Buddhas." This reveals Hevajra's essence as a unified manifestation of all enlightened beings.
Sacred Mantra
"Om Hevajra Hum Phat"
