Why this Statue?
This masterpiece offers practitioners a profound focal point for advanced tantric meditation, embodying the highest teachings of Tibetan Buddhism in exquisite Nepalese craftsmanship.
Who is Samantabhadra?
Samantabhadra, known as the "All-Good" or "Universal Worthy," represents the primordial Buddha—the original state of enlightenment that exists before all creation. As the dharmakaya Buddha, Samantabhadra embodies pure awareness itself, free from all conceptual limitations. In Tibetan Buddhism, he is revered as the source of all Buddhas and the ultimate nature of mind, depicted here in sacred union with his consort Samantabhadri, symbolizing the inseparable unity of wisdom and compassion.
Divine Form and Sacred Posture
This exquisite statue captures Samantabhadra in the profound yab-yum position, seated in perfect meditation posture with his consort. His serene, half-closed eyes reflect the state of primordial awareness—neither completely withdrawn from the world nor distracted by it. His hands rest in the mudra of equanimity, symbolizing the perfect balance of all dualities. The intimate embrace with his consort represents the non-dual nature of reality, where masculine skillful means (upaya) unites with feminine wisdom (prajna). Their synchronized breathing and posture embody the eternal dance of emptiness and clarity.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
This union statue represents the ultimate tantric teaching of non-duality. The oxidized copper finish symbolizes the timeless, unconditioned nature of primordial awareness. Their naked forms signify freedom from all conceptual coverings and artifice, revealing the pure essence of enlightened consciousness. The lotus base represents the purity of their realization, untainted by the mud of samsaric existence.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
In Sanskrit, "Samanta" means "universal" and "bhadra" means "good" or "auspicious." The Dzogchen teachings describe Samantabhadra as the ground of being from which all phenomena arise and return.
Sacred Mantra
"Om Ah Hung Samantabhadra Sarva Siddhi Hung"
