Why This Statue?
This is not merely a statue — it is a devotional centerpiece. Standing at 52 cm and finished in genuine 24K gold, it radiates sovereign authority. Hand-carved turquoise, red coral, and lapis lazuli gemstones adorn the robes, lotus throne, and crown jewels, creating a breathtaking mosaic of colour and texture. Acrylic hand-painted facial features lend a striking lifelike intensity. For serious collectors and practitioners, this gilded masterwork is simply unmatched in presence and artistry.
Who Is Guru Rinpoche?
Guru Rinpoche, (Tibetan: Padmasambhava), is the tantric master who brought Vajrayana Buddhism to Tibet in the 8th century. Born miraculously from a lotus blossom in the Dhanakosha Lake, Padmasambhava subdued demonic forces, established the first Tibetan monastery at Samye, and revealed hidden terma teachings for future generations. He is revered as a second Buddha across the Himalayan world.
Key Features: Posture, Eyes, and Hands
Guru Rinpoche is seated in royal ease upon a hand-painted lotus throne, projecting the calm authority of a fully realised master. His penetrating, wide-set eyes — acrylic painted with extraordinary precision — gaze outward with fierce compassion, seeing directly into the nature of mind. His right hand holds the vajra, the thunderbolt sceptre of indestructible wisdom, while his left cradles a kapāla skull cup filled with the nectar of immortality. His left arm supports the khaṭvāṅga trident staff, representing his three consorts and mastery of the three kāyas.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
Guru Rinpoche embodies the union of all Buddhas across the three times. The vajra in his hand represents the indestructible nature of the awakened mind, while the skull cup signifies the transformation of death into liberation. His elaborate gemstone-studded robes reflect his mastery of both the worldly and transcendent realms — a king of Dharma who never abandoned compassionate activity.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
The Guru Rinpoche Prayer declares: "You are the Buddha of the three times, the embodiment of all refuges." The Padmasambhava Tantra teaches that merely seeing his image purifies negative karma accumulated over countless lifetimes. He proclaimed: "My father is the intrinsic awareness, Samantabhadra; my mother is the space of reality, Samantabhadrī — I am the one who knows the nature of mind."
Sacred Mantra
“Om Ah Hum Vajra Guru Padma Siddhi Hum”
"Salutations to the vajra guru, Padmasambhava — may all ordinary and supreme accomplishments be fully bestowed upon me."
