Why this Statue?
This masterpiece offers the perfect centerpiece for meditation practice, embodying 2,500 years of Buddhist wisdom in exquisite Nepalese craftsmanship that inspires daily contemplation and spiritual growth.
Who is Sakyamuni Buddha?
Sakyamuni Buddha, born Prince Siddhartha Gautama around 563 BCE, became the historical founder of Buddhism after achieving perfect enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. Known as the "Sage of the Sakya Clan," he transcended the cycle of suffering through profound realization of the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path. His teachings, preserved for over 2,500 years, continue to guide millions toward liberation from suffering, making him one of history's most influential spiritual teachers and the embodiment of compassion and wisdom.
The Perfect Form of Enlightenment
This magnificent statue portrays Sakyamuni Buddha in classic meditation posture, seated in vajrasana (diamond pose) with perfect symmetry and grace. His serene, half-closed eyes reflect the state of perfect awareness—neither withdrawn from the world nor caught by its distractions. His right hand rests in bhumisparsha mudra (earth-touching gesture), calling the earth to witness his enlightenment, while his left hand cradles an alms bowl in dhyana mudra (meditation gesture). The golden complexion radiates the warm light of compassion, and his ushnisha (crown protrusion) symbolizes supreme wisdom. The flowing monastic robes, adorned with intricate patterns, represent renunciation and spiritual discipline.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
Every aspect of this statue embodies profound spiritual truths. The lotus throne represents purity emerging from the mud of samsara, while the earth-touching mudra commemorates Buddha's moment of awakening. His peaceful expression reflects the cessation of all suffering, and the medicine bowl in his lap symbolizes healing for all beings. The perfectly balanced posture demonstrates the Middle Way between extreme asceticism and indulgence.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
The name "Buddha" derives from the Sanskrit root "budh," meaning "to awaken." The Pali canon records his teaching: "Sabbe sankhara anicca, appamadena sampadetha"—"All conditioned things are impermanent, strive diligently."
Sacred Mantra
"Om Muni Muni Maha Muniye Soha"
