Why this Statue?

This extraordinary piece transforms any space into a sanctuary of divine feminine energy, serving as a powerful focal point for meditation, manifestation practices, and cultivating loving-kindness in daily life.

Who is Kurukulla?

Kurukulla, also known as Red Tara (Tib.. Rigjyedma), is a prominent dakini in Tibetan Buddhism, venerated across all four Buddhist schools, as well as in Hinduism and other traditions. Her worship is associated with bringing wealth, well-being, and power to devotees. Her name means "she who is the cause of knowledge". At the ultimate level, she embodies Prajnaparamita, the Perfection of Wisdom.

Sacred Pose and Features

Kurukulla's four arms move in perfect harmony - her primary hands draw the flowered bow of subjugation, while her secondary hands hold a hook and lasso, tools for capturing and taming negative emotions. Her wrathful expression, marked by three piercing eyes, including the wisdom eye on her forehead, gazes intensely forward, symbolizing her ability to see through illusion. Flames of wisdom energy surround her lithe form as she dances upon a prostrate figure, representing the conquest over ego and ignorance.

Symbolism and Meaning

The statue reflects profound Buddhist symbolism; also known as ‘Red Tara’, her red color embodies the transformation of attachment into discriminating wisdom, while her dancing posture represents the dynamic nature of enlightened activity. The bow and arrow specifically symbolize her power to "hook" practitioners toward dharma practice and away from samsaric distractions.

Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom

In Sanskrit texts, Kurukulla appears as Kurukulle, derived from kuru (to make) and kulla (family), meaning "she who creates spiritual family." Buddhist tantras describe her as an emanation of Amitabha Buddha, specializing in magnetizing activities that benefit beings.

Sacred Mantra

"Om Kurukulle Hrih Svaha"
