The luminous coral and deep teal palette creates mesmerizing visual harmony, while meticulous gold detailing on robes and ornaments adds regal elegance. Who is Sakyamuni Buddha?
Sakyamuni Buddha, born as Prince Siddhartha Gautama in ancient India, is the historical Buddha who achieved perfect enlightenment under the Bodhi tree 2,500 years ago. After renouncing royal life to seek the end of suffering, he discovered the Middle Way and shared the profound teachings of the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path. Revered as the founder of Buddhism, Sakyamuni represents the ultimate human potential for awakening and compassion.
Exquisite Features and Meditative Posture
This breathtaking statue depicts Sakyamuni Buddha seated in vajrasana (diamond pose), the posture of unshakable meditation. His luminous coral-orange face radiates serene tranquility, with half-closed eyes expressing deep meditative absorption and inner peace. The distinctive teal-green curled hair crowned with a golden ushnisha (cranial protuberance) signifies supreme wisdom. His right hand extends in bhumisparsha mudra (earth-touching gesture), touching the lotus throne—commemorating the moment he called the earth to witness his enlightenment and defeated Mara's temptations. The left hand rests in his lap in dhyana mudra (meditation gesture), cradling an alms bowl representing monastic simplicity and the nourishment of spiritual practice. The beautifully painted robes in deep teal with golden borders drape elegantly across his form, symbolizing both monastic renunciation and royal spiritual dignity.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
The earth-touching mudra represents unwavering determination and the victory over illusion. The alms bowl symbolizes detachment and spiritual sustenance. His coral complexion evokes warmth and compassion, while the teal robes represent the transcendence of worldly concerns through disciplined practice.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
Known as Shakyamuni (Sage of the Shakyas), he embodies bodhi (awakening) and prajna (wisdom). His teaching declares: "Sabbe sankhara anicca"—All conditioned things are impermanent; understanding this leads to liberation.
Sacred Mantra
“Om Muni Muni Maha Muniye Soha”
This powerful mantra invokes Sakyamuni's enlightened presence, cultivating wisdom, compassion, and the path to complete awakening.
