Why This Statue?

Standing nearly half a metre tall and weighing over 8 kg, this Vajrasattva commands any altar with effortless, sovereign authority. The copper body is lavished in genuine 24K gold gilding — a continuous, mirror-bright surface of extraordinary warmth and depth. Turquoise, red coral, and lapis inlays jewel the crown and ornaments with vivid gemstone colour, while gold and acrylic hand-painted features deliver a lifelike, spiritually present expression of rare intensity. Cast using the ancient lost wax method, this is large-scale Himalayan sacred sculpture at its absolute finest.

Who Is Vajrasattva?

Vajrasattva, (Tibetan: Dorje Sempa), "the Being of Indestructible Mind" — is the supreme purification deity of Vajrayana Buddhism, embodying the absolute, unstainable purity of enlightened mind. Revered across Tibetan and Newar Buddhist traditions, he is the principal deity of the ngöndro foundational practices. His hundred-syllable mantra is considered the most potent purification tool in all of Buddhism, capable of dissolving even the heaviest accumulated karma when recited with sincere devotion and genuine remorse.

Key Features: Posture, Eyes, and Hands

Vajrasattva sits in padmasana — the full lotus posture — projecting absolute, unshakeable stillness. His gold and acrylic hand-painted eyes gaze with serene, all-encompassing compassion — steady, non-judgmental, and completely present to every being's need for purification. His right hand holds the golden vajra pressed firmly at his heart, representing the indestructible, luminous essence of the awakened mind that can never be diminished or destroyed. His left hand rests gracefully on his knee holding the ghanta bell, embodying the union of wisdom and compassionate method — the complete non-dual heart of Vajrayana realisation expressed in two hands.

Sacred Symbolism and Meaning

Vajrasattva's resplendent golden form proclaims the fundamental teaching of Vajrayana Buddhism: that the nature of mind is inherently, irreversibly pure. No karma, however heavy, can permanently stain what is primordially spotless. The vajra at his heart represents bodhicitta — the indestructible awakening mind — while the ghanta bell declares the ever-present sound of śūnyatā, the emptiness that liberates all phenomena from fixity. His jewelled crown reflects the five Buddha wisdoms radiating outward in all directions without boundary or interruption.

Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom

The Vajrasattva Tantra declares: "Even the heaviest karma accumulated across countless lifetimes dissolves completely in the boundless, compassionate presence of Vajrasattva." The Guhyasamāja Tantra describes him as the sovereign of all one hundred Buddha families — the primordial ground of purification from which every tantric path springs and to which every sincere practitioner ultimately returns.

Sacred Mantra

“Om Vajrasattva Hum”

"Salutations to the indestructible being — may all impurities of body, speech, and mind be completely purified and dissolved into the boundless expanse of primordial, unstainable awareness."
