Why this Statue?
The lustrous 24k gold gilding and intricate acrylic details create a powerful presence that serves as both an artistic treasure and a sacred focal point for protection practices and meditation.
Who is Simhamukha?
Simhamukha, the "Lion-Faced Dakini," stands as one of the most powerful protective deities in Tibetan Buddhism. This fierce feminine guardian embodies the primordial wisdom that destroys obstacles and negative forces threatening practitioners on their spiritual path. Known as the supreme protector of the Dzogchen teachings, she represents the wrathful aspect of enlightened consciousness that fearlessly confronts and transforms all hindrances to liberation.
The Fierce Dakini's Form
This extraordinary statue reveals Simhamukha in her dynamic pratyalidhasana warrior stance—legs powerfully positioned in eternal readiness to defend the dharma. Her fearsome lion face blazes with three eyes of omniscient awareness, while her fanged mouth opens in the roar that terrifies demons and awakens practitioners. Her right hand brandishes a curved blade or flaming sword raised skyward, the weapon that severs the roots of ignorance and ego-clinging. Her left hand grips a skull cup filled with the nectar of wisdom, symbolizing the transformation of poison into medicine.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
Every detail whispers profound tantric teachings. Her deep blue body represents the dharmakaya—the unchanging nature of ultimate reality. The blazing aureole of flames surrounding her symbolizes the wisdom fire that consumes negative karma and mental afflictions. Her wild, flame-like hair demonstrates fierce determination to protect practitioners from spiritual obstacles. The ornate garments and bone ornaments reflect her mastery over death and impermanence, while the lotus base signifies her pure nature despite her terrifying appearance.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
Rooted in the tradition of "Dakini" teachings, Simhamukha represents "Simhavaktra" – the lion-mouthed wisdom protector. Buddhist scriptures describe her as the embodiment of "Prajnaparamita," transcendent wisdom that protects practitioners from both outer and inner obstacles on their journey to enlightenment.
Sacred Mantra
"Om Simhamukha Hum Phat Svaha”
