Why This Statue?
This statue captivates at first glance. Cast using the ancient lost wax method, the copper body is then lavished with a genuine 24K gold finish — giving it a luminous, warm radiance that photographs and altar displays equally. Turquoise and red coral gemstones punctuate the halo and crown, adding bursts of vibrant colour against the burnished gold. At 31 cm tall and weighing just over 2 kg, it commands presence without overwhelming a shrine or display space.
Who Is Vajrayogini?
Vajrayogini, (Tibetan: Dorje Naljorma), is among the most revered tantric deities in Vajrayana Buddhism — a wrathful yet compassionate ḍākinī who embodies the transformation of desire and ignorance into wisdom. She is the supreme female Buddha of the Anuttarayoga Tantra, guiding devoted practitioners swiftly toward enlightenment.
Key Features: Posture, Eyes, and Hands
Vajrayogini is sculpted mid-dance in the ardhaparyanka stance — one leg raised, body turned, radiating fierce momentum. Her three eyes see past, present, and future simultaneously, symbolising omniscience. Her right hand raises a khaṭvāṅga staff, signifying mastery over existence, while her left curves in a gesture of offering. The flaming prabhāmaṇḍala (aureole) encircling her evokes the fires of awakening that consume all illusion.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
Vajrayogini represents mahā mudrā — the great seal of reality. Her golden form symbolises the union of bliss and emptiness (śūnyatā). Her dynamic posture reflects the teaching that liberation is not stillness but active, joyful engagement with truth. She destroys the five poisons — ignorance, desire, aversion, pride, and jealousy — transforming them into the five wisdoms.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
The Chakrasaṃvara Tantra proclaims: "She who is free from all extremes, neither existent nor non-existent, dances in the space of awareness." Vajrayogini embodies the prajñā (wisdom) aspect of the enlightened mind, inseparable from the compassion of all Buddhas.
Sacred Mantra
“Om Vajrayogini Hum Phat Svaha”
"Salutations to the vajra yogini — may all obstacles be cut through; may the essence of awakened wisdom be fully realised."
