Why This Statue?
This White Tara is a devotional treasure of the highest order. The copper body, cast using the time-honoured lost wax method, is finished in genuine 24K gold — producing a warm, mirror-bright luminosity that transforms any altar or meditation space. Hand-carved turquoise, red coral, and lapis gemstones adorn her lotus throne and crown, while acrylic hand-painted facial features render her expression with striking, serene beauty. At 33 cm tall and 4.18 kg, she is elegantly proportioned for both intimate shrines and prominent display settings.
Who Is White Tara?
White Tara, (Tibetan: Drolkar), is the beloved goddess of long life, healing, and compassionate protection in Vajrayana Buddhism. Born from a tear of Avalokiteśvara as he wept for suffering beings, she embodies mercy in its purest, most luminous form. Revered across Tibet, Nepal, and Mongolia, she is especially invoked in longevity rituals and healing practices, offering protection from illness, obstacles, and untimely death.
Key Features: Posture, Eyes, and Hands
White Tara is seated in padmasana — the full lotus posture — radiating unshakeable, healing stillness. She possesses seven eyes: one on her forehead, one in each palm, and one on each sole, representing her boundless, all-seeing vigilance over every sentient being without exception. Her right hand rests open in varada mudrā, the gesture of boon-granting generosity, while her left holds the stem of a blooming utpala lotus, symbolising purity and the fullness of enlightened compassion rising beautifully above worldly suffering.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
White Tara's radiant golden form embodies the union of purity, wisdom, and compassionate longevity. Her white essence — luminously rendered in gleaming gold — represents the totality of all wisdoms unified into one. The lotus throne signifies her transcendence of saṃsāra, and the flowering lotus stems flanking her form represent her compassionate reach across all three times — past, present, and future — without interruption.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
The Tārā Tantra proclaims: "She who ferries beings across the ocean of existence with the boundless boat of her compassion, granting long life to those who call her name with sincerity." Described in the Mañjuśrī-mūla-kalpa as the mother of all Buddhas, White Tara continuously bestows the gift of life, wisdom, and healing upon all beings who turn toward her with an open heart.
Sacred Mantra
“Om Tare Tuttare Ture Mama Ayur Pune Jnana Pushtim Kuru Svaha”
"I invoke Tara — the liberator — to bestow upon me long life, merit, and the nourishment of wisdom, that I may benefit all beings."
