Why this Statue?

Meticulously cast in copper and adorned with traditional stone inlays of turquoise and coral, following centuries-old Nepalese artisan techniques passed down through generations of skilled craftsmen.

Who is Green Tara?

This exquisite handcrafted statue depicts Green Tara (Shyama Tara), the beloved "Mother of Liberation" revered throughout the Buddhist world. Born from the compassionate tears of Avalokiteshvara, she embodies swift action and protection for all beings seeking refuge from suffering.

Divine Features & Sacred Pose

Her serene countenance radiates infinite compassion, with half-closed eyes gazing downward in eternal watchfulness over devotees. The right hand gracefully extends in varada mudra (wish-granting gesture), while the left holds a blue lotus (utpala) near her heart, symbolizing purity rising from worldly mud. Her distinctive posture—right leg pendant, ready to spring into action—represents her immediate response to prayers, while the left leg remains in meditation, balancing contemplation with swift intervention.

Sacred Symbolism and Meaning

The ornate five-pointed crown represents the five Buddha families, while her turquoise and coral inlays mirror the precious stones of Tibetan sacred art. The lotus throne signifies her pure nature, untainted by worldly concerns. Her youthful form embodies the eternal feminine principle of wisdom and compassion.

Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom

In Sanskrit, she is "Tara," meaning "star" or "she who ferries across." Her essence captures the Prajnaparamita teaching of transcendent wisdom, guiding practitioners across the ocean of samsara to enlightenment's shore.

Sacred Mantra

"Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha"
