Oxidized Green Tara Statue | Handcrafted in Nepal
Stripped of gilding yet losing nothing in grace — this stunning oxidized Green Tara statue glows with a warm, antique copper richness that makes her gemstone inlays sing, a deeply intimate and organically beautiful rendition of Buddhism's most beloved goddess.
Why This Statue?
This statue offers something the gilded versions cannot — raw, earthy warmth. The deep oxidized copper finish gives the surface a living, aged quality that draws the eye across every engraved detail of her robes, lotus throne, and florals. Against this warm bronze tone, the turquoise, red coral, and lapis inlays embedded in her crown, waist belt, and jewelry burst with jewel-bright contrast that is simply breathtaking.

Who Is Green Tara?
Green Tara — known in Tibetan as Dölma Jangku, meaning "Green Liberatress" — is the swift goddess of compassion and protection in Vajrayana Buddhism. Legend holds she was born from Avalokiteshvara's compassionate tear, vowing to remain in feminine form until all beings are free from suffering. She is the most approachable and responsive of all bodhisattvas.
Key Features: Eyes, Hands, and Sacred Posture
The finely sculpted eyes are cast in serene half-closure, conveying meditative awareness and gentle, ever-present watchfulness. Her right hand extends forward in Varada Mudra — the wish-granting gesture — palm open and ready to bestow blessings, while her left holds the stem of a blooming utpala lotus at her heart. Seated in Lalitasana — the royal ease posture — with her right foot extended and poised to step forward, she radiates readiness to act swiftly on behalf of any suffering being.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
The oxidized copper surface itself carries spiritual resonance — copper is traditionally regarded as a conductor of sacred energy in Himalayan metallurgy. Tara's extended foot symbolizes her perpetual readiness to descend into the world and assist beings without hesitation. The lotus rising beside her represents wisdom untouched by samsaric stains.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
The Tara Tantra proclaims her name derives from Sanskrit tṛ — to cross over. She is the compassionate ferryman of existence, guiding practitioners across the turbulent ocean of samsara toward the shore of liberation through her unfailing grace and swiftness.
Sacred Mantra
“Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha”
"Om" awakens universal presence; "Tare" liberates from samsara; "Tuttare" removes fear and outer obstacles; "Ture" heals inner afflictions swiftly; "Soha" plants the blessing irreversibly within the heart of the devoted practitioner.
