Why This Statue?
This authentic masterpiece transforms any environment into a sanctuary of peace and purification. Perfect for meditation practitioners seeking liberation, or anyone desiring the protective radiance of Infinite Light in their spiritual journey.
Who is Amitabha Buddha?
Amitabha Buddha, meaning "Infinite Light" in Sanskrit, is the principal Buddha of the Pure Land tradition and one of the Five Dhyani Buddhas. Known as the Buddha of boundless life and light, he presides over the Western Paradise of Sukhavati. Amitabha represents the transformation of desire into discriminating wisdom, offering salvation and rebirth in his pure realm to all who invoke his name with sincere devotion.
Divine Features and Sacred Posture
The statue captures Amitabha in perfect meditation posture, his serene face radiating infinite compassion through half-closed eyes that reflect deep inner peace. The intricately carved hair displays traditional ushnisha (cranial protuberance), symbolizing supreme wisdom. His hands rest in the classic dhyana mudra (meditation gesture), with both palms facing upward, one resting upon the other, representing the union of wisdom and method. The ornate robes, adorned with precious gemstones, flow gracefully around his composed form.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
This statue embodies pure consciousness and spiritual transformation. The elaborate lotus throne represents purity emerging from worldly suffering, while the multi-tiered base symbolizes the progressive stages of enlightenment. The hand-carved turquoise, lapis, and coral inlays reflect the jeweled splendor of his Western Paradise, where beings achieve liberation from the cycle of rebirth.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
Rooted in "Amitayus" (infinite life) and "Amitabha" (infinite light), this representation embodies the Sanskrit concept of "Sukhavati" - the blissful pure land where suffering ceases and enlightenment flourishes through devotional practice.
Sacred Mantra: “Om Amitabha Hri”
