Vibrant, regal, and radiating transformative power — this extraordinary polychrome Guru Rinpoche statue distinguishes itself through its exceptionally rich hand-painted robes and multicolored lotus throne, a devotional treasure unlike any gilded counterpart.
Why This Statue?
What makes this Guru Rinpoche truly exceptional is its spectacular polychrome painting. Where most statues rely on gold gilding alone, this masterpiece bursts with a full spectrum — emerald green robes, deep indigo, crimson, saffron, and pink — all rendered with jewel-like precision. Who Is Guru Rinpoche?
Guru Rinpoche , meaning "Lotus-Born" — is Padmasambhava, the 8th-century tantric master who brought Vajrayana Buddhism from India to Tibet. Venerated as the Second Buddha across the Himalayan world, he subdued malevolent forces, established monasteries, and concealed countless terma (treasure teachings) for future generations of practitioners.
Key Features: Eyes, Hands, and Sacred Posture
The hand-painted eyes carry that unmistakable Guru Rinpoche intensity — dark, slightly furrowed brows framing a penetrating gaze that simultaneously challenges and reassures. His right hand raises a golden vajra at heart level, embodying indestructible enlightened awareness, while his left cradles a kapala (skull cup) containing a longevity vase. A richly adorned khatvanga staff leans gracefully against his shoulder. Seated cross-legged in composed, sovereign authority atop the breathtaking multicolored lotus throne, he wears his signature layered robes and distinctive lotus crown — the complete iconographic presence of the Second Buddha.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
The vajra in Guru Rinpoche's hand represents the indestructible nature of the awakened mind — dorje — that no force of ignorance can shatter. The khatvanga embodies his hidden consort Yeshe Tsogyal and the inseparability of the three kayas: dharmakaya, sambhogakaya, and nirmanakaya.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
Padmasambhava taught: "My mind and the nature of the sky are one." The Padma Kathang chronicles that merely seeing his image purifies countless lifetimes of negative karma and plants an indestructible seed of liberation within the mindstream.
Sacred Mantra
“Om Ah Hum Vajra Guru Padma Siddhi Hum”
"Om Ah Hum" purifies body, speech, and mind; "Vajra Guru" invokes his indestructible enlightened nature; "Padma" honors his lotus origin; "Siddhi Hum" summons both ordinary accomplishments and supreme liberation.
