Why This Statue?

This statue distinguishes itself through exceptional attention to detail and premium materials. The 24K gold gilding radiates luminous warmth, while the sturdy copper body ensures lasting durability. The intricate gold and acrylic paintings highlight every fold of the Buddha's robes, showcasing the artisan's devotion to perfection. At 22 centimeters tall, this statue commands presence without overwhelming your sacred space, making it ideal for meditation altars, home shrines, or mindful living environments.

Who is Sakyamuni Buddha?

Sakyamuni Buddha, known in Tibetan as Shakya Thub Pa, is Siddhartha Gautama—the historical Buddha who achieved enlightenment 2,500 years ago. Born a prince in Lumbini, Nepal, he renounced worldly pleasures to discover the path to liberation from suffering, becoming the founder of Buddhism and teacher of the Dharma.

Iconographic Details and Posture

The statue depicts Buddha in the classical dhyanasana (meditation posture), seated in full lotus upon an ornate lotus throne. His right hand extends downward in the bhumisparsha mudra (earth-touching gesture), commemorating his victory over Mara and calling the earth to witness his enlightenment. His left hand rests in his lap, holding an alms bowl, symbolizing monastic simplicity. The serene facial features—downcast eyes suggesting inward contemplation, elongated earlobes from his princely past, and the urna (third eye) on his forehead—embody tranquility and wisdom. The ushnisha (cranial protrusion) atop his head represents supreme knowledge.

Sacred Symbolism and Meaning

This statue symbolizes awakening, inner peace, and the triumph of wisdom over ignorance. The lotus throne represents spiritual purity rising from worldly mud, while the earth-touching gesture signifies unwavering determination and truthfulness. Displaying this statue invites blessings, supports meditation practice, and serves as a reminder of our own potential for enlightenment.

Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom

In Buddhist teachings, the Buddha proclaimed: "Atta dipa viharatha"—be a lamp unto yourself. This statue embodies that wisdom, encouraging self-reliance on the spiritual path while honoring the teacher who illuminated the way.

Sacred Mantra

“Om Muni Muni Maha Muniye Soha”

This powerful mantra means "Om, sage, sage, great sage of the Shakya clan, hail!" Reciting it purifies negativities, accumulates merit, and invokes Sakyamuni Buddha's blessings of wisdom and compassion upon all sentient beings.
