Why This Statue?

This Guru Rinpoche is a devotional centerpiece of exceptional power and beauty. The copper body is finished in genuine 24K gold gilding — a continuous, warm luminosity that catches every light source with sovereign radiance. Hand-carved turquoise and red coral gemstones jewel the crown, robes, and lotus throne with vivid, jewel-toned colour. Gold and acrylic hand-painted facial features — particularly the fierce, wide-set eyes and the distinctive upturned moustache — deliver a strikingly characterful, lifelike presence. At 35.5 cm and 4.72 kg, this is a commanding altar piece of genuine lasting presence.

Who Is Guru Rinpoche?

Guru Rinpoche — "the Precious Master" — is Padmasambhava, the great tantric master who brought Vajrayana Buddhism to Tibet in the 8th century. Born miraculously from a lotus blossom upon Lake Dhanakosha, he subdued all forces obstructing the Dharma, established Samye — Tibet's first monastery — and concealed countless terma teachings for future generations. He is revered as a second Buddha across the entire Himalayan world, his influence immeasurable and eternal.

Key Features: Posture, Eyes, and Hands

Guru Rinpoche sits in royal ease upon a gilded lotus throne, radiating the sovereign confidence of complete realisation. His gold and acrylic hand-painted eyes are wide, direct, and fierce — the penetrating gaze of a master who sees through every layer of illusion and responds with indestructible compassionate wisdom. His right hand holds the golden vajra at chest height, representing the indestructible nature of the awakened mind, while his left cradles a kapāla skull cup brimming with the nectar of immortality. Resting against his left arm, the khaṭvāṅga trident staff — clearly rising above his shoulder — signifies his mastery over the three kāyas and the three root poisons transformed into the three wisdoms of liberation.

Sacred Symbolism and Meaning

Every attribute of this Guru Rinpoche form carries precise, living transmission. The vajra represents the indestructible nature of the awakened mind — nothing in existence can break, burn, or diminish it. The skull cup overflowing with nectar signifies the transformation of death and impermanence into the bliss of liberation itself. The turquoise and red coral gemstones adorning his form represent the healing clarity of sky-mind and the vitality of compassionate action — two qualities inseparable in the life and activity of the Lotus-Born Master.

Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom

The Padmasambhava Namthar proclaims: "I am the one who knows the nature of mind — my father is Samantabhadra, my mother is Samantabhadrī, and I arose as primordial awareness itself." The Nyingma tradition teaches that reciting his mantra with sincere devotion purifies negative karma accumulated across countless lifetimes and opens the door to his direct blessing.

Sacred Mantra

“Om Ah Hum Vajra Guru Padma Siddhi Hum”

"Salutations to the vajra guru, Padmasambhava — may all ordinary and supreme accomplishments be completely and swiftly bestowed upon all beings without exception."
