Why This Statue?

Who Is Sakyamuni Buddha?
Sakyamuni Buddha (Tibetan: Sangye Shakya Thubpa), "Sage of the Shakya Clan" — is the historical Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, who attained supreme enlightenment beneath the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya. He is the foundation of all Buddhist traditions and the universal symbol of awakening.
Key Features: Eyes, Hands, and Sacred Posture
The statue's hand-painted eyes radiate serene compassion, gazing gently downward in meditative focus. The right hand touches the earth in Bhumisparsha Mudra — the Earth-Touching Gesture — calling the ground to witness his enlightenment. The left hand rests in Dhyana Mudra, cradling a begging bowl in deep meditative absorption. Seated in padmasana (full lotus), the posture embodies unshakeable stability and perfect inner peace.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
The ornate lotus throne represents purity rising from suffering. The gilded halo symbolizes boundless spiritual radiance. Ruby and emerald inlays represent compassion and wisdom — the twin pillars of the Buddha's teaching.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
"Sabbe sattā sukhitā hontu" — May all beings be happy. This statue is a living embodiment of the Bodhisattva ideal: boundless compassion offered to every sentient being.
Sacred Mantra
“Om Muni Muni Mahamuni Shakyamuniye Svaha”
"Salutations to the sage, the great sage, the sage of the Shakya clan — so be it." Chanting this mantra invokes Sakyamuni's blessings, purifies karma, and opens the path to liberation.
