Why This Statue?

This Chengresi statue stands as an unparalleled achievement in sacred art. The complete 24k gold-plated throne structure creates breathtaking luminosity. The elaborate architectural throne features hand-carved mythical makaras, protective snow lions, and intricate filigree work. Hand-carved precious stone inlays of turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli add exceptional spiritual authenticity. The magnificent mandorla backdrop with Amitabha Buddha creates a complete celestial realm. At this impressive height, the statue commands presence while remaining suitable for shrines or collections.

Who is Chengresi?

Chengresi, known in Tibetan as Chenrezig and Sanskrit as Avalokiteshvara, embodies the infinite compassion of all Buddhas. His name means "The Lord Who Gazes Upon the World with Compassion." He vowed to remain in samsara until every sentient being achieves liberation. When witnessing overwhelming suffering, his head split from compassion's intensity, which Amitabha Buddha reformed into his current form. He is Tibet's patron deity.

Sacred Iconography: Hands, Eyes, and Divine Posture

Chengresi sits in padmasana upon his celestial throne, embodying enlightened stability. His serene white face expresses boundless compassion. His four arms represent the four immeasurables: loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. The first two hands join at his heart holding a wish-fulfilling jewel representing bodhicitta. His right hand holds a crystal mala for counting blessings. His left hand grasps a lotus flower symbolizing purity. Above sits Amitabha Buddha, his spiritual father.

Sacred Symbolism and Meaning

This statue embodies compassion's active manifestation. The throne elevates Chengresi as supreme refuge for suffering beings, while guardian lions protect the dharma. The wish-fulfilling jewel represents his power to grant liberation. The lotus demonstrates compassion unstained by worldly concerns. The precious stone inlays represent treasures of spiritual accomplishment earned through compassionate action.

Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom

The Karandavyuha Sutra declares: "Just as the ocean contains all waters, Avalokiteshvara contains the compassion of all Buddhas." The texts teach that reciting his name once purifies eons of negative karma. His vow resonates: "May I never seek individual salvation until all beings are established in enlightenment."

Sacred Mantra

“Om Mani Padme Hum”

This sacred six-syllable mantra is Buddhism's most beloved prayer. "Om" purifies ego. "Mani" means "jewel," purifying jealousy. "Padme" means "lotus," purifying passion. "Hum" purifies hatred. Together, meaning "Hail the jewel in the lotus," it invokes Chengresi's transformative compassion. Each syllable purifies one of the six realms, liberating beings from suffering through boundless loving-kindness.
