Why this Statue?
This exceptional Nepalese masterpiece represents centuries of artistic tradition and spiritual devotion. Handcrafted by skilled artisans, it brings authentic Tibetan Buddhist energy into any sacred space, serving both as a meditation focus and a powerful spiritual protector for practitioners seeking transformation and enlightenment.
Who is Hevajra?
Hevajra (Tibetan: Kye Dorje) is a significant deity in Vajrayana Buddhism, classified as one of the eight Yidams and belonging to the Anuttara Yoga Tantra class of deities. Its name means "Secret Union" (Tibetan: Sangwa-dupa), and it is also known as "King of Tantras". Hevajra is a tutelary deity closely associated with the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism, particularly within the Lamdre cycle of teachings.
Sacred Iconography and Features
This magnificent statue captures Hevajra's distinctive multi-armed form with extraordinary detail. The deity's penetrating eyes radiate fierce compassion, while sixteen arms gracefully extend in perfect symmetry, each hand holding symbolic implements representing different aspects of Buddhist wisdom. The dynamic dancing posture, with one leg raised in celestial motion, symbolizes the deity's mastery over worldly illusions and the eternal dance of existence. Every gesture speaks to the profound spiritual energy that flows through this sacred form.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
The statue embodies the profound concept of "Heruka," meaning "blood drinker," symbolizing the consumption of ego and ignorance. Hevajra's wrathful appearance represents fierce compassion that cuts through spiritual delusions, while the dancing pose signifies the joyful transcendence of suffering. The flame aureole surrounding the figure represents the purifying fire of wisdom that burns away karmic obstacles.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
Rooted in the ancient Hevajra Tantra, this deity represents "Hevajra-Nairatmya," the indivisible union of method and wisdom. The Sanskrit term "Vajra" means diamond-thunderbolt, symbolizing indestructible enlightenment, while "He" represents the sound of great bliss that awakens consciousness to its true nature.
Sacred Mantra
“Om Dewa Pizhu Vajra Hum Hum Hum Fazha Soha”
