Why this Statue?
This authentic Nepalese masterpiece brings centuries-old spiritual tradition into your sacred space. Meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans, it serves as a powerful reminder of compassion's transformative power, inspiring daily practice and spiritual growth.
Who Is Chengresi?
Chengresi, also known as Avalokiteshvara in Sanskrit, is the supreme embodiment of compassion in Tibetan Buddhism. This beloved bodhisattva vowed never to achieve complete enlightenment until all sentient beings are liberated from suffering. Revered as Tibet's patron deity and considered the spiritual father of the Tibetan people, Chengresi represents boundless love and mercy.
Exquisite Craftsmanship and Sacred Form
This masterpiece showcases Chengresi in his four-armed manifestation, seated gracefully in the diamond posture upon a magnificent lotus throne. His serene face radiates infinite compassion, with gentle eyes that seem to perceive the suffering of all beings. The primary hands rest in a prayer position at his heart center, symbolizing devotion and respect. The upper right hand holds a crystal mala for counting mantras, and the upper left hand grasps a blooming lotus flower, representing purity and spiritual awakening.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
Every detail carries profound spiritual significance. The four arms represent the Four Immeasurables: loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy, and equanimity. The lotus throne symbolizes rising above worldly attachments, while the ornate crown signifies his princely nature and spiritual sovereignty. The rich oxidized finish with turquoise and coral inlays reflects the traditional Himalayan aesthetic.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
In Sanskrit texts, Avalokiteshvara means "Lord who looks down with compassion." Buddhist teachings describe him as the manifestation of all Buddhas' compassion, eternally working for the welfare of suffering beings across countless realms.
