Why This Statue?
Warm, golden-brown antique copper glows across every surface of this extraordinary Dzambhala shrine statue. Standing nearly 17 inches tall and weighing over 21 lbs, it presents Dzambhala within a complete carved torana arch — flanked by ornate pillars, guardian lions, a Garuda crown deity, and layered scrolling borders. Unlike isolated figurines, this is a fully realized sacred environment in a single piece. The antique copper patina gives it depth and gravitas no modern finish can replicate. Hand-carved entirely using the lost wax method, it is a devotional and collector's treasure of the highest order.
Who Is Dzambhala?
Dzambhala, is the Buddhist deity of wealth, known in Sanskrit as Kuber. An emanation of Avalokiteśvara, the Bodhisattva of compassion, he channels prosperity as a sacred expression of generosity and accumulated merit. Honored across Tibetan, Newar, and Vajrayana traditions, Dzambhala opens the gates of abundance for devoted practitioners.
Key Features: Eyes, Hands, and Body Posture
The sharply defined eyes radiate confident, compassionate authority — alert and sovereignly watchful. The right hand extends forward, holding the jewel-spitting mongoose (nehulay), Dzambhala's hallmark emblem of inexhaustible giving. The left hand cradles the wish-fulfilling jewel (chintamani) in his lap. He reclines in Maharajalila — the royal ease posture — one leg gracefully pendant, projecting effortless, overflowing abundance. The jeweled crown, beaded necklaces, and elaborately carved robes affirm his celestial, sovereign nature.
Sacred Symbolism and Meaning
The torana arch frames Dzambhala as the axis of a complete sacred cosmos. The Garuda above destroys obstacles and negativity. Guardian lions below anchor protective, auspicious energy. The mongoose spitting jewels dismantles the root poison of scarcity and greed. The lotus seat grounds abundance in purity of intention. Together, every carved element teaches that true prosperity flows from generosity, merit, and an open heart.
Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom
The Jambhala Tantra affirms: "Dānaṃ sarva sukhasya mūlam" — "Generosity is the root of all happiness." This statue gives that timeless teaching a permanent, radiant home. The Newar master artisans of Patan, Nepal — living custodians of a 1,500-year sculptural lineage — pour sacred intention into every stage of the lost wax casting process, making the deity's blessings inseparable from the object itself.
Sacred Mantra
“Om Dzambhala Dzalendraye Svaha”
Meaning: "Om, Dzambhala, Lord Of Wealth And Splendor, Svaha."
Chanting this mantra before the statue removes obstacles to prosperity, purifies karmic debts around abundance, and aligns the practitioner with Dzambhala's inexhaustible blessings of wealth, generosity, and flourishing well-being in all areas of life.
