Who Is Green Tara? 

Green Tara, (Tibetan: Drolma), is the swift-acting goddess of compassion, courage, and liberation in Vajrayana Buddhism. Born from a tear shed by Avalokiteśvara as he witnessed the ocean of suffering, she vowed to remain in feminine form until every being attained enlightenment. Across Tibet, Nepal, and Mongolia she is the most beloved protectress — invoked to overcome the eight great fears, remove obstacles, and guide beings swiftly toward liberation.

Green Tara sits in lalitāsana — the posture of royal ease — her right leg extended forward, perpetually poised to rise and act on behalf of suffering beings without a moment's hesitation.
