Why This Statue?

What makes this Green Tara immediately unforgettable is her vivid emerald-green body — acrylic hand-painted with exceptional skill — set boldly against 24K gold-plated robes, jewels, and throne scrollwork. Hand-carved turquoise, red coral, and lapis gemstones encrust the multi-tiered lotus throne and floral arrangements, creating a dazzling mosaic of colour and texture. Cast using the ancient lost wax method, every petal, tendril, and ornament is rendered with meticulous artisan precision that mass production simply cannot replicate.

Who Is Green Tara?

Green Tara, (Tibetan: Drolma), is the swift-acting goddess of compassion, courage, and liberation in Vajrayana Buddhism. Born from a tear shed by Avalokiteśvara as he witnessed the ocean of suffering, she vowed to remain in feminine form until every being attained enlightenment. Across Tibet, Nepal, and Mongolia she is the most beloved protectress — invoked to overcome the eight great fears, remove obstacles, and guide beings swiftly toward liberation.

Key Features: Posture, Eyes, and Hands

Green Tara sits in lalitāsana — the posture of royal ease — her right leg extended forward, perpetually poised to rise and act on behalf of suffering beings without a moment's hesitation. Her acrylic hand-painted eyes are alert and tender, holding every viewer in a gaze of warm, direct compassion. Her right hand rests open in varada mudrā, the gesture of boundless generosity and wish-granting, while her left is raised in vitarka mudrā, the gesture of teaching and fearless protection, her fingers elegantly holding the stem of a blooming lotus.

Sacred Symbolism and Meaning

Green Tara's emerald colour embodies enlightened activity — the dynamic, ever-moving force of compassion that never rests. Unlike meditative deities seated in stillness, her extended right leg declares readiness: she steps into the world the instant she is called. The ornate jewelled lotus throne upon which she sits represents transcendence above saṃsāra, while the flanking floral arrangements symbolise the continuous blossoming of enlightened qualities within all realms of existence.

Sanskrit and Buddhist Wisdom

The Tārā Mūla Tantra proclaims: "She who saves with a single glance, whose compassion moves faster than thought itself." In the Praise to the Twenty-One Tārās, Green Tara is celebrated as the root mother from whom all twenty-one forms of Tara emanate — the primordial source of swift liberating action available to every being who calls upon her with sincere devotion and an open heart.

Sacred Mantra

“Om Tare Tuttare Ture Svaha”

"I invoke Tara — she who liberates from suffering, fear, and all obstacles — may her boundless swift compassion and blessings flow freely and completely to all beings."
